The Morrigan

The Morrigan was developed for Junior/Senior Collaborative Games Development 2021. This project took inspiration from the combat in “Hades” and features three levels for the player to progress through.

My Contributions

  • Created the spawning system for enemies and handled the logic for completing rooms.

  • Handled the sound manager to allow for consistent audio throughout the game.

  • Created some Particle effects for enemies

  • Created the upgrade system for the player, though this was removed from the final build.

Outcomes

  • I learned a significant amount of things in unreal from working with a tech senior and other members of the tech team. This helped me with other projects I did during the year and advanced my skill set significantly.

  • I gained a better understanding of how larger group project should be managed, to allow for the best use of everyone’s time.

  • I learned how to use source control and how to avoid source conflicts.

Critique

  • I could have taken on more QA tasks to help find bugs earlier.

  • I should have communicated more effectively with other members of the team on source control to ensure we didn’t have conflicts.
